New DIRECTOR Named:    Vicki Alden has accepted the position of Director for Hospice of Jackson County, effective September 29th, 2014.

Vicki began working with hospice in 2007 as grief counselor and bereavement coordinator.   Acting as Interim Director since May 2014, she is excited about both the challenges and possibilities ahead for Hospice of Jackson County. “We are blessed with the most amazing team in our staff members and Board of Directors…they are an absolute joy to work with. We are looking at the healthcare climate changes as challenging opportunities. Because HJC has such a talented, cohesive team, there are exciting possibilities open to us. One thing remains unchanged–we will continue to care for our patients and their families with excellent care and compassion.”

With a background in administration and grant writing, Vicki worked in City government for several years before turning to work in healthcare. She is licensed as grief counselor and massage therapist, as well as certified in many complementary therapy modalities, including Reflexology, Reiki and Harp therapies. Vicki is currently working to complete her Ph.D. in Metaphysics.

Vicki lives on an acreage outside of Maquoketa and is “mom” to Hospice of Jackson County’s pet therapist, Tessa. She enjoys keeping up with the busy lives of her children and grandchildren, all of whom live in the Maquoketa area.
